We went for a water bus ride on the Grand Canal from San Marco to the end, then back to the Rialto Bridge. These are people being ferried across the Grand Canal in a form of gondola. Note - the natives stand up in boats.
Walked through the tourist alleys from Rialto to San Marco looking for our May 22nd hotel - when we will be back in Venice for one more night. Could not find the proper alley. Stopped for lunch and asked the waiter if he had ever heard of our next hotel. He showed us an alley about 30 feet from where we were sitting, pointed down it and said "Avante, avante, avante" - go across the next 3 cross-alleys (clearly visible, not far). Sure enough, the hotel was there, although we walked right past it twice. Yes, Virginia, our hotel-to-be is right down this "street". Very Venetian!
We walked to the Fenice (re-built opera house, see City of Falling Angels). Then on to the Academia Bridge and these pictures of the Grand Canal.
Back on a water bus to Marco Polo airport, picked up our car and headed out to Bologne. We got very lost in Bologna. More than once.

These pictures are great, Dad! Any Photoshopping going on, or is this straight off the camera? Also, how do you get them to overlap like that?

The pictures are straight off the camera – then reduced to about 560 x 420 pixels. The size has varied a bit, but this seems to allow multiple photos and still be visible.
The overlap may be a bit of serendipity. I am using the “left” “ right” “center” buttons, but then I have been moving stuff around.
I will get better at this. For now, luck plays a significant role.
