Chianciano Terme is a larger town than San Albino a few klicks to the west. We went there to get train tickets to Florence (see May 11th).
CT has two parts: the new town with lots of chi chi shops and buses bringing people to the modern hotels, and the old hilltop town dominated by the old clock tower.We spent some time strolling around the old CT then went to Montepulciano for dinner. And a lovely dinner it was in a very fine restaurant in the lower potion of Montep. Unfortunately, there are no pictures of this event - or none that I will publish.
Between CT and San A there are a couple of places where you get a good view of Montepulciano about 5 kilometers away.

Looks like a ghost town! With incredible ghost-architects. This blog is reminding me of W.G. Sebald's novels, where "he" (or rather, the narrator) travels around all over western Europe describing what's going on in his head and sometimes printing pictures. You should check out Vertigo. It's a great one, and he spends a lot of time in Italy.

It was late in the evening and pretty empty at the top of the hill.
